No weekly written work will be assigned to pupils for final week. Suggested P.E. Sport Activities will be posted up on school website and Parents Association Facebook page. Return of Book Rental Books

Monday 22nd of June is designated day for return of all book rental books to school. It is very important that all book rental books are returned to school in preparation for 20/21 school year. Any loss of, or unreturned book rental books will lead to an additional expense for school. Any other possessions or belongings pupils may have left in school should be taken from school on 22nd of June. Any families who do not attend to return Book Rental Books will receive a phone call from class teacher. Any uncertainty about which books are book rental books can be clarified during Friday Assessment Calls with Class Teacher. Monday 22nd of June can also be used as an opportunity to meet present Class Teacher and say Good Bye before Summer Break. Please see timetable Here.

New Junior Infants

Wednesday 24th of June is designated day for new Junior Infants visit to school. So as to adhere to social distancing each new infant will receive their own personal time to visit. Phone communication about individual times has been made to all new Junior Infant families.

20/21 School Year Calendar

A Copy of 20/21 school year calendar will be posted to all families. A copy of 20/21 school year calendar is available on school website here. A copy of 20/21 school year calendar will be posted up on front door of school. School reopens for pupils on Friday 28th of August after Summer Break.

Crests/ Ties/Booklists Queries

School office will be open on Thursday 2nd of July and Thursday 27th of August between 10am and 12 Midday if families need to visit to purchase crests, ties etc.

Pupil Reports, Booklists, School Lunch Information etc

All pupil reports, booklists, school year calendars, attendance Certificates and school lunch information will be posted to parents/guardians before Friday 19th of June and should be received during last week of school calendar year. As part of this years report cards teachers have commented on pupils engagement with remote learning since 12th of March. Standardised Tests for current 1st to 5th class pupils will be undertaken in Autumn 2020 and results will be communicated to Parents/guardians at Parent Teacher Meetings in late November 2020.

School Cleaning

On top of regular end of school year cleaning, whole school will be deep cleaned, fogged appropriately and hand sanitizer dispensers will be installed in all rooms in preparation for return to school on 28th of August.

Outgoing 6th Class

Our outgoing 6th class will receive a final Friday call from Management teachers on Friday 26th of June between 9.30am and 11am. 6th class yearbooks will be distributed as soon as all completed pupil profiles have been returned to Ms Phelan. A video clip message from all Moneenroe NS school staff for outgoing 6th class will be placed on school website and Parents Association Facebook page during last week of school.

Virtual Fun Run Walk for local Cocooners

Well Done to Moneenroe NS Parents Association on organising such a great event and Well Done to all who participated. The Fun Run/Walk generated great excitement among pupil population and the donation made was very much appreciated by community council.

Return of Book Rental Books/Gathering Possessions/Collection of school work/ Meeting Class Teacher – Monday 22nd of June

• Monday 22nd of June is our schools designated day for return of Book Rental Books. Each child will receive an individual 5 minute timeslot. Each 5 minute timeslot will allow children/families the opportunity to return book rental books, gather personal belongings, collect Art work etc. and speak with class teacher. It is important all book rental books are returned. Any unreturned books will lead to an additional cost for school.

• Families attending at their designated time will help with smooth running of school visit. Flat Coloured rings will be placed to left hand side of front door to promote correct social distancing. A member of staff will be present outside to ensure social distancing and to invite children/families to enter at correct time. On entering all children/families will be asked to record their time of entry. Hand sanitiser will be available at front door. Children/families will enter through front entrance door and exit through fire exit door in classroom they have visited as instructed by school staff. Two members of staff will be present in all classrooms to ensure the swift collection of resources etc.

• Any child/family who does not attend school at their designated time to return Book Rental Books and collect possessions will receive a phonecall from class teacher to organise return and collection as necessary of books/resources at an alternative time that suits during week ending Friday 26th of June.

Special Message for the 6th Class Students of Moneenroe

We were thrilled to receive this video message from Seani Maguire wishing our current 6th class best wishes as they graduate from primary school this month. As we all know with schools closed graduations for all 6th class students are very different this year. Continuation of Schooling

Zoom Explanation of weekly work meetings, correction/queries email facility at moneenroenscovid19period@gmail.com, Friday individual Assessment Calls and uploading of weekly work will continue in place up to Friday 19th of June.

 

P.E. Physical Exercise Activities

For the last three weeks of school from Monday 8th of June to Friday 26th of June Physical Activity Video Clips containing 3 daily exercises will be made available to all pupils. PE Video clips will be placed on School website moneenroens.ie and on Parents Association Facebook page. There will be different activities for Junior end and Senior end pupils. Pupils are encouraged to give feedback about daily physical exercises in daily zoom meetings and during Friday individual assessment calls.

Post Primary Schools

Meetings have been held with Castlecomer CS and Presentation Secondary School representatives with regard our outgoing 6th class. The necessary documentation required by secondary schools will be sent to relevant secondary schools in late June.

As always our school aims to act fast so as to finalise school staffing for the upcoming school year. At present we are awaiting consent from the  Department of Education and Diocese of Ossory before our school can finalise staffing for the 20/21 school year. Class Teachers for different class groups will be communicated to parents/guardians as part of booklist in late June.

Moneenroe NS Parents Association have organised a Virtual Fun Run Walk in aid of Annual Christmas Party for local Cocooners. The Virtual Fun Run/Walk will take place on Sunday 7th of June. Weekly Work

Weekly work will continue to be emailed to parents/guardians, posted to parents/guardians and placed on school website as appropriate during Covid 19 enforced school closures.

 

Increased Zoom Explanation of Work Group Calls

Next week there will be two explanation of work group calls on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th of May. Older classes will receive 3 zoom group calls per week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to explain work starting from Monday 11th of May. Individual class teachers will make this clear to pupils during zoom calls and Assessment calls next week. A reminder of the designated times for Group calls on zoom days are listed below

- Mr Lonergan 5th class 9.40 to 10am

- Ms Phelan 5th and 6th class 10.00 to 10.20am

Longer Friday Assessment Call times

To facilitate greater Assessment Individual Friday Call times will now be 10 minutes in duration. A revised timetable for individual Calls will be sent to all families. Teachers will also remind pupils of their time for Friday Assessment calls during Zoom group calls.

 

Differentiation

Ms Kinsella SET Teacher will continue to set differentiated work for pupils as appropriate.

 

New Temporary Email

Moneenroenscovid19period@gmail.com is working well. Parents should use this to email  queries about weekly work and to forward on pupils work for correction as necessary. Parents/guardians are asked to email this email between 9am and 3.30pm

Access to School

Once restrictions loosen and it is permitted a time slot will be made available to allow families to access school safely so as to retrieve books, resources necessary for weekly school work.

Communication with Secondary Schools

Zoom Group Calls have been organised for mid May to allow Ms Phelan, Mr Lonergan and Secondary School Representative to plan for 6th Class pupils transition into Secondary School.

 

New Junior Infants in September 2020

All new Junior Infants for September 2020 should now have received an Acceptance of Admission Letter. Any new Junior Infant who has not should email moneenroeschool@gmail.com. If restrictions loosen we hope to hold a Junior Infant Introduction Afternoon in June if possible. Details will follow to relevant families if this is possible.

Food Pack Distribution

The next Food pack Delivery is expected the week starting the 11th of May. Supplier will now be delivering once every three weeks. Any family who would like to be added to Emergency Food Pack delivery list should email moneenroeschool@gmail.com. All Food Pack Recipients will receive a text a parent in advance of delivery.

 

School Self Evaluation Questionnaires

A School Self Evaluation Questionnaire about practises during Covid 19 enforced school closures will be emailed to all parent/guardians on Wednesday 6th of May.

 

Child and Family Support Network

The Senior CFSN (Child and Family Support Network) Co-ordinator in Kilkenny would like to let parents know that they are still providing and co-ordinating services for children, young people and families in the area. Due to the current Covid 19 situation, the ways in which supports are being provided have been altered to best meet the needs of families, while adhering to government guidelines. The CFSN Co-ordinators provide supports for all families, whether or not they have engaged with Tusla previously, these supports can include access to counselling; family support; support for young children and teenagers; therapy online or on the phone, or help with food and practical supports. Weekly work allocated by class teacher will be emailed to all parents/guardians on Fridays before the school week ahead

Weekly Work will be available on school website moneenroens.ie (Click Here) on Fridays before the school week ahead. Weekly work will be  posted to families who have no internet facilities available to them. Differentiated work will be given to certain pupils as necessary.

 

Monday ZOOM Group Class Conference Call

All families are asked to download zoom app where possible so as they can avail of Monday explanation of work Group call by class teachers. Please see Zoom group call timetable Click Here. Families will receive an invitation to join group call in advance and teacher explanation of work will start at the designated time. Families who want to avail of Monday zoom call are asked to be close to home or office wifi so as to facilitate call.

 

Temporary Email Address

A temporary email address moneenroenscovid19period@gmail.com has been set up to facilitate communication with all class teachers during Covid 19 enforced closure. All teachers have access to new temporary email address. All queries that parents/guardians have can be emailed to this email address on school days between 9 and 3. Teachers will answer emails between 9 and 3. Parents/guardians are also welcome to scan or upload work so as teachers can give feedback and correct pieces of work which have been emailed. Parents/guardians are asked to make it clear which teacher email is addressed to when emailing.

 

Friday Personal Zoom Call or Phone Call

Each pupil will receive a Friday call from Teacher to check in on level of work completed, observe work on zoom, verbally test as appropriate, give explanations and suggestions and feedback as appropriate. Please see Friday Pupil Call timetable Click Here. Some families will receive individual Friday Call times via email as appropriate. The onus is on families involved to make themselves available to take Teacher call at the designated time on Fridays.

 

Powerpoints

Over 1600 Educational Powerpoints have been placed on school website and can be accesed Here. Teachers will be using different powerpoints as part of work and families are welcome to browse different powerpoints as appropriate. The powerpoints cover a variety of subject areas.

 

The Great Isolation Activity Book

The Great Isolation Activity Book will be emailed to all parents/guardians and made available on school website Here. Teachers may select suitable age level pages as additional work and it can be used at parents discretion also. .

 

School Visits

It is hoped when restrictions loosen schools will be allowed to facilitate further school visits by families as necessary for resources etc.

First Holy Communion

Fr Corcoran has asked our school to notify Parents/guardians that this years First Holy Communion has been canceled until further notice due to covid 19.

Our schools Board of Management met via Conference call on Tuesday 14th of April.

2 boy teams and 1 girls team will represent our school in a 5 a side soccer competition in Thomastown on Monday 23rd of March. Bus leaving at 9.30am and bus will return to Moneenroe at 2.30pm. All members of 5th & 6th Class will play, support or help out on the day.

 

Khans Book Sale

Khans Books will display book in the hall on Thursday 2nd of April. All classes will receive opportunity to view and buy books.. Parents / Guardians can visit the hall after 2pm

 

National Heritage Council Speaker

Lorraine O'Sullivan will visit M.N.S on Friday 31st January to speak with all classes on Biodiversity, wildlife.

 

Geography Biodiversity Trail

4th, 5th & 6th Class will participate in Bug Detectives Trail in Castlecomer Discovery Park on Friday 27th March. Bus will leave at 12.30pm and be back for 3pm. Pupils should wear school tracksuit, wear sturdy footwear and have a raincoat.

 

Hurling Coaching

After schools Hurling for U11 & U13 training will start back in the Hall / Pitch on Wednesday 29th Jan. Interested pupils from 3rd to 6th Class are welcome.

 

Soccer Coaching

Junior Classes will receive Soccer Coaching on Monday 3rd & 10th of February - 2 Sessions each.

Senior Classes will receive Soccer Coaching after February Midterm on 24th Feb, 2nd & 9th March - 3 Sessions each.
